Car hire in La Rioja

2 offices in La Rioja · Spain

La Rioja is wine country par excellence, but it is also a land of monasteries where written Castilian was born — San Millán de la Cogolla — of medieval towns such as Haro and Briones, and of a little-known mountain range, the Sierra de Cameros, with stone villages and beech woods. All of it fits into mainland Spain's smallest province.

Logroño, where we have two offices — in the city and next to the railway station — is the natural base. La Rioja has no commercial airport with regular traffic, and its bodegas, monasteries and wine villages are scattered along country roads with almost no public transport: here a car is not an option, it is the key.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get to La Rioja without its own airport?

Most visitors fly into Bilbao or Saragossa, or arrive by train at Logroño, where we have an office beside the station. From there, with a hire car, the whole region is within an hour's reach.

Can I visit bodegas independently with a hire car?

Yes, though nearly all require booking in advance, especially at harvest time. Plan two or three bodegas a day at most, and remember the designated driver must not drink at tastings.
