Car hire in Alicante
10 offices in Alicante · airport pick-up · Spain
Few Mediterranean capitals blend city life and beach like Alicante: Santa Bárbara Castle watches over the Explanada, the Santa Cruz quarter and an ever-lively marina. Its airport, Alicante-Elche, is one of the main gateways to the Costa Blanca and welcomes travellers all year round thanks to the climate.
The Costa Blanca is a string of coves, villages and mountain ranges that the coastal tram only partly covers: Guadalest, the coves of Cabo de la Nao and inland Jijona all demand a car. With a dozen pick-up points — airport, railway station, city centre, even Benidorm and El Campello — starting your route is instant.
Car Hire at Alicante Airport →Search cars in AlicanteWhy hire a car in Alicante
- Direct pick-up at Alicante-Elche Airport, plus offices at the railway station, in the city centre, El Campello and Benidorm.
- The best coves — Granadella, Moraig, Cabo de la Nao — have no public transport: a car is the only way to string them together.
- Inland Alicante (Guadalest, Jijona, the Sierra de Aitana) is under an hour away and transforms the coastal scenery entirely.

Frequently asked questions
Should I collect the car at the airport or in central Alicante?
If you land at Alicante-Elche, airport pick-up avoids transfers and puts you straight onto the AP-7. If you are spending a few days in the city first, collecting it later at the centre or the railway station saves you days of rental.
Do I need a car if I am staying in Benidorm?
Not for Benidorm itself, but there is a rental office right there: it is very handy to hire only for day trips to Guadalest, the Algar waterfalls or the coves of Jávea, none of which have good public transport.
