Car hire in Verona

1 office in Verona · airport pick-up · Italy

Verona distils two thousand years of history along the River Adige: the Roman Arena still staging open-air opera, Juliet's balcony, Renaissance squares and a castle with a crenellated bridge across the river. It is a World Heritage Site and yet a manageable city, enjoyed without stress in a couple of days.

Its real trump card for travellers with a car is its position: Lake Garda begins half an hour away, Valpolicella and its Amarone wineries are fifteen minutes off, and both Venice and Milan are a motorway hop away. Collect your vehicle at Verona airport and you're on the road the moment you land.

Frequently asked questions

Can I drive into the centre of Verona?

The historic centre is a restricted ZTL zone monitored by cameras: entering without a permit means a fine. The practical option is to park in the perimeter car parks, such as those near the Arena, and get around on foot.

Is Verona a good base for touring Lake Garda?

Excellent: the southern shore is around 40 minutes away and the Gardesana road lets you tour the villages of the eastern bank. In summer it pays to set off early, as lakeside traffic builds up quickly.
