Is it a good idea to drive in central Naples?
Frankly, no: dense traffic, camera-enforced ZTLs and difficult parking. Use the car to leave the city and explore the centre on foot or by metro; you'll save both time and stress.
Can I drive along the Amalfi Coast?
Yes, the SS163 is fine for ordinary cars, though narrow and very busy in summer. Set off early, avoid August if you can, and pinpoint the paid car parks in Positano and Amalfi before you arrive.
